Recently the question has been asked, why write for remove and install items on an exterior door when repairing it on an initial estimate?

The scrap yards who received the “Cash for Clunkers” can part out the body parts, ie. Hood, Fender..etc. Everything except the engine and drive train.  These would normally fetch good money but the requirement is that these core components be rendered inoperable. Part of the “Government’s” requirements for dealerships to get $4500 of your taxpayer money per car is to disable the engine and drivetrain. Here’s a perfectly good Volvo that takes a long time to blow the engine. What a waste of a good car.
