When a vehicle hits fixed property other than another car this is recorded as a “fixed property loss” This could be a house, store, restaurant, gas pump, fence, etc.  The average property adjustment figure for these type of losses during Q1 2009 shows an average severity of $ 2,468.00.

California SB 350……. Insurer Would Have To Warranty Safety Of A/M Parts.

Recently, California SB 350 went through a rewrite and if this proposed bill is ever enacted as law, insurers would:

This bill would, in addition, prohibit the use of nonoriginal equipment 

manufacturer aftermarket crash parts unless the insurer warrants that 

those parts are at least equal to the original equipment manufacturer 

parts in terms of kind, quality, safety, fit, and performance and shall 

pay the cost of any modifications to those parts necessary to effect the 

repair.
