Average Appraisal Severity: $2420.99
Average OEM parts usage: 62.57%
Total Loss Percentage Ratio: 27.7%
Common Location of Total Loss Inspections: Residence 52.36%
“One month of data is by no means an indicator of any distinct trends thus far, however, when comparing data to a year ago at this time we’ve noticed average severity levels are much lower when compared to January 2008, however, total loss percentages have jumped seven percent.” Stated Tara Esquivel, Chief Operating Officer.

Another interesting statistic is location of total loss inspections. Of all vehicles deemed a total loss, the top 3 locations were as follows: 52.36% of the time, the totaled vehicle was located at the owner’s residence, 12.80% of the time at a tow yard and 17.3% at a repair shop.
