In 2008, AutoClaims Direct tracked the location inspection of damaged autos from all independent appraisers and insurance staff of those claims processed through the DirectLink claims management solution. 56.58% of all vehicles were seen at an owners home, 19.56% were inspected at a repair shop, and 17.38% at the owners workplace.

AutoClaims Direct’s Property Adjusting division “American Property Claims”  had some interesting data from 2008. 

The average Fixed Property Loss severity: ( When a vehicle hits property other than a vehicle ) was $3,487. Some examples of losses included vehicles hitting restaurants, parking garages, fences, mailboxes, office buildings and homes.

American Property Claims also noted that the average loss severity for a manufactured/mobile home in 2008 was $3,246 per loss.
