The inverse relationship of auto total loss settlement values appears to be complete. In the past, large SUV’s and trucks generally would retain higher settlement values than small sedans and compact cars. In a posting a few weeks ago, we addressed the likely decrease in settlement amounts of SUV’s and trucks when claims adjusters are resolving total losses. We have seen ACV’s for trucks and SUV’s lower than expected and conversely, we are now seeing smaller compact cars attaining extraordinary values.
