We had an interesting request from a claims director last week inquiring if we could to do a study of “Repair vs. Replace” percentages for parts involved in auto damage claims. Our analytics team quickly went to work and here’s the results….
In a strict Repair vs. Replace analysis, excluding all repair times such is ( remove/install, refinish etc) and focusing solely on Repair vs. Replace operation hours, we pulled a sample encompassing 10,000 random files. The resulting data revealed that 33.53% of labor time was for Repair operations while 66.47% was for Replacement operations.
